We kindly invite you to take a part in the International children and Youth Pop Music Festival-Contest in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 24th – 26th of April, 2009.

 

 

Aims of the festival-contest:

 

·        To stimulate youth creativity and communication, and wish to create music and scenic action all together, cherish love to native country;

·        To help youth and talent music performers to unfold;

·        To popularize entertaining music among children and youth and to pay attention to Lithuanian music of all the times;

·        To form country entertaining music performers culture and develop music style according the highest entertaining music criterion;

·        To motivate heads of youth and children entertaining music collectives share their experience;

·        To expand children's and youth, heads of theirs collectives view by training personal singularity and tolerance;

·        To co-operate creatively, shearing music experience with collectives from foreign countries.

Rules of the contest

 

In this competition can participate Lithuanian and foreign youth and children collectives: studio, show groups, ensembles playing popular music.

 

Participants of this festival are divided into 3 age groups:

1.      6-9 year

2.      10-13 year

3.      14-18 year

 

Organizer invites candidates to festival-contest. They also can be recommended by Lithuanian and foreign country concert organization, leisure time organization centers, recording studio, producer.

 

Theme of this competition - “Assonantest songs for Lithuania ” – is sacred to Lithuania’s name thousand years anniversary.

Collectives, which take part in competition, play the program, prepared by themselves.

Show program - up to 10 minutes.

 

In this program – Lithuanian songs of all the times should be performed in different modern styles: disco, jazz, folk, country, pop, etc.... Programme should be played by instrumental assent or musical phonogram, only vocal part and instrumental solo part should be played “life”

 

Application forms for taking part in this competition, description of collective, color collective photo (10x15) of good quality, compact disc or audiocassettes have to be sent to organizer not later than 25 February 2009.

 

When organizers get your application form, they will send you invitation and detailed information about festival-contest.

 

The participants of this contest will be qualify by authoritative international musicians, composer, directors, choreographs and performer of pop music.

 

Participants defray travel cost by themselves.

Food and accommodation costs are paid by the organizer of the festival.

Membership fee for one participant - 10 EUR.

 

Awards

 

The winner will award Grand Prix, three main prizes and special prizes. All participants will get diplomas, and keepsakes, prizes from sponsors.

In case if participants (collective) resign the prize, it transfers to the fund of the festival or, according the decision made by commission, it can be presented for other participants of the same contest. Collective has a right to resign the prize by writing an application for the organizers of contest not later than 1-2 months after the end of final event.

 

 

Rights of organizers

 

Organizer of the contest has all radio and TV translation, retranslation rights on the festival time and after festival. Organizer can eliminate collectives from festival-contest collectives or participants, which do not obey the rules, schedule of repetition and concert.

Organizer of the festival has all (audio and video) distribution rights.

 

History of the festival

 

The first country youth and children pop music festival-contest “Popkopėčios 2000” (Pop-ladder 2000) was held on the 25th-26th of March and 8th of April, 2000 in the Lithuanian youth center. The head of the festival Jury was singer Rūta Morozovaitė. 21 music collectives from various cities and districts of Lithuania took a part in the festival-contest.  A lot of mass media,  such as Lithuanian radio and TV, radio station “Laisvoji banga” and “Radiocentras” daily  newspapers “Lietuvos rytas”, “Lietuvos žinios”, “Lietuvos aidas”, were writing about this festival. Over 600 participants took a part  in the first festival and sang 112 songs.  1400 viewers were listening festival program and final  concert. Especially the song “Mūsų daina” (muzic J.Cechanavičius,  words J. Liniauskas) sounded very lively. Songs about Vilnius contest attained the special ovation. All the best songs of festival- contest  Popkopėčios 2000” are recorded in the compact disc and audio cassette “Geriausios Lietuvos  vaikų dainos” (“The best songs of Lithuanian children”) which was presented on 19th of November 2000. The biggest Lithuanian daily newspaper “Lietuvos rytas” wrote about us in March 2000: ,,“Popkopėčios” - the first children's groups music contest, which aim is not only to rank the level of young singers but also to try to raise it up. “Kopėčios” became the symbol not only of this contest, but it became the symbol of young singers,  who want to improve in music. ,,Songs about Vilnius were very original and well prepare, they livened festival and showed that  children can perform hard composition, not only children's song."

 

The second country children's and youth pop music festival-contest “Popkopėčios” followed on 24th-25th of March 2001. Celebratory laureate award was in Vilnius City hall, ” White hall”.  Over 600 young singers took a part in festival-contest; collectives played 10 minutes program, which theme was “Retro, good bye XX century!” The competitive country jury qualified collectives for 2-contest days. The head of jury was composer  Mindaugas Tamošiūnas. Over 1500 viewers were watching this festival. It was very broad covered by country

national television, which  prepared even 3 special programs about young talents and biggest country daily newspaper  Lietuvos rytas wrote about festival-contest. This contest shows that there are a lot of talented children who can represent Lithuania in the  similar competition all over the world. Festival organization committee took a decision to invite to this festival participants from foreign countries, and the festival could become international. Organization of this festival on the March and April 2002 held country promotional project “Kelialapis į popkopėčias 2003”, which took place in various country regions. Over 500 youth singer took a part in this event and they represented their new program. 5-country promotional concerts were watched by 1600 viewers. This promotional project is like a bridge, which unites coasts; the bridge which is necessary to pass that could be possible to improve festival “Popkopėčios” artistic demand and demands, which rae raised to participants. New compact disc “ Geriausios Lietuvos vaikų dainos- 2” (“ The best Lithuanian children's song-2”)  was presented during this project. -”Take a drop of the sun for yourself!” This edition represents music  level and youth participants' skills of last contest.

 

Festival-contest “Popladder” (“Popkopėčios”) became international in 2003. Collectives from Latvia, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Romania, Polland, Germany and Lithuania demonstrated the wish to participate in this event. This factor shows the importance and high level of the festival. Authoritative contest evaluation commission was formed from high-level music specialist from Lithuania, Latvia and USA. In 2005 travelling “Popladder” (“Popkopėčios”) visited Gargždai, Panevėžys, Pabradė and Vilnius cities. Over 550 participants took part in this project.
